Cynthia Delgado MD is a Professor of Medicine at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System and University of California, San Francisco. She is the Associate Chief of Nephrology and the Director of the Dialysis Program for San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System. She has served as Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the American Society of Nephrology and as the co-chair of the NKF-ASN Task Force on Reassessing the Inclusion of Race in Diagnosing Kidney Disease. She is the recipient of the American Society of Nephrology Mid-Career Leadership Award and the National Kidney Foundations Eknoyen Garabed Award. More recently she was chosen as one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential Individuals in Health for her work addressing kidney transplant bias. She is a recognized international expert on functional status, frailty, body composition, quality of life and related outcomes among individuals with chronic kidney disease.
